2026 RV PRO RVeterans Honoree Jesse Ward

Jesse Ward started his career on the production line, and that hands-on experience still shapes the way he leads today.

Now serving as director of purchasing at Jayco, Jesse oversees purchasing and material management operations that support production across multiple areas of the company, including lightweight lines, lamination, welding, motorized chassis, tools and supply, wire harnesses, sewing and metal fabrication.

Coworkers say Jesse brings an unmatched level of commitment to the job, taking pride in making sure operations run efficiently and effectively.

“Jesse steps in and completes projects/tasks that improve/help everyone in the purchasing group,” says Jeryl Miller, vice president of purchasing at Jayco. “He will complete projects that benefit everyone, not just his team. He has helped our purchasing team become more efficient and lean.”

Jesse’s leadership is rooted in experience. He worked his way through the organization, starting as a line worker before advancing into PC/IC roles, line buyer, purchasing manager and ultimately director of purchasing. That journey gives him a unique understanding of how every piece of the organization fits together and allows him to better support employees at every level.

Peers describe Jesse as approachable, thoughtful and always willing to listen. Whether helping employees navigate workplace challenges or tackle unfamiliar operational issues, he brings a calm, practical mindset focused on solutions and continuous improvement.

Coworkers say his attention to detail and willingness to dig into complex issues strengthen the entire purchasing team. They also credit him with helping Jayco build a more reliable and cost-effective supply chain through forward-thinking strategies and operational improvements.

Outside of work, Jesse coached soccer at schools and club programs throughout northern Indiana, including Lakeland High School, Bethany Christian High School, Middlebury Magic and Westview Jr.-Sr. High School, for over 20 years.

For Jesse, coaching mirrors the same leadership philosophy he brings to Jayco: teamwork matters, preparation matters and people matter most. Former players connect with him years after they have left the field, a reflection of the lasting impact he builds on and off the field.

Whether mentoring employees or coaching young athletes, Jesse leads the same way he started his career — by showing up, working hard and helping the people around him succeed.

What it means to Jesse to work in the RV industry this long:

It’s been extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to work in such a great industry for this long. The pace and versatility needed in this space allows a person to learn so much over their career.

Jesse’s advice for younger people just starting their careers:

Develop solid relationships and surround yourself with good people that can help guide you through challenging times and complex decisions. Be prepared to make mistakes, but more importantly be prepared to learn from them.
