MSN: Make-a-Wish Surprises Families With Campers at Syracuse RV Show
The following is a report from MSN.
The Ultimate RV Show at the New York State Fairgrounds became the launchpad for a heartwarming surprise, as Central New York’s Make-A-Wish chapter kicked off its 40th anniversary by granting the camping dreams of two families.
Susan Tormey, the chapter’s founding chair, said, “I dare say we have all once closed our eyes and made a wish, but wishes are extra special when they are for children.”
Five-year-old Lennox from Onondaga County and five-year-old Zachary Koscinski from Oneida County, both living with neurological disorders, received the gift of a lifetime: their very own campers.
Lennox’s mother, Siobhan Grevelding, explained the impact of the gift, saying, “A lot of things that we go out and do, we have to end up leaving early or stop early because Lennox will have a seizure or something. This will give us a space to be able to go out and do things and give him a place to rest and continue to do those things.”
Zachary’s mother, Kathleen Koscinski, shared her excitement, saying, “It’ll give us time to be together as a family. It’s hard to travel with Zachary right now. He’s on such a restrictive medical diet that we have to prepare all of his food ahead of time. We have to have refrigeration for it due to a rare seizure condition that he has, and so this will really allow us to be able to make memories and be together.”
Bryan Koscinski, Zachary’s father, added, “It just gives us so much flexibility. When I was a kid, my parents and probably about five other families would get together and go camping. All us kids got to go run around and play, and it’s memories that we hold on to to this day.”
Lennox’s father, Lynn Daniels, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Like normal kids, he wants to be able to do stuff for everybody else. I’m so glad that y’all helped us do that. It makes me so happy to put a big smile on his face.”
