Rhino-Rack Parent Company Acquires RockyMounts

Rhino-Rack, the largest brand within the Clarus Adventure Segment portfolio and an industry leader in automotive roof racks and accessories, announced the acquisition of Colorado-based RockyMounts, a leader in bicycle transport products. For three decades, RockyMounts has been designing and manufacturing roof and hitch rack solutions, which have created a cult following in the market due to their style and durability.

“Bobby has built a great brand, with market leading product and a passionate consumer following. We are proud to be able to include RockyMounts in our portfolio of Adventure brands to expand our opportunity to be a bigger part of people’s adventure,” said Mat Hayward, managing director of Clarus Adventure Segment.

RockyMounts, which was founded by Bobby Noyes in Boulder, Colorado, in 1993, is known for making solid, well thought out and dependable racks that give the user peace of mind while transporting their bikes. The award-winning products can be found in local and national retailers across North America and many other international markets, including Rhino-Rack’s home market of Australia.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

“We are so excited to offer RockyMounts products to our customers in North America. In my career I have been a RockyMounts user as well as a competitor and I am excited to see where we can take this world-class product line,” said Tripp Wyckoff, general manager for Rhino-Rack Americas.

“When I started to look at the future of RockyMounts, my own future and the brands, I had a short list of companies that I could trust to care for it the way I have. I am so excited to see where Rhino-Rack takes RockyMounts, and I know that my brand and people are in great hands with Mat and Tripp at the helm,” said Bobby Noyes, founder of RockyMounts. Noyes will be staying on with the business in a product development and innovation-driving capacity.

Retailers and consumers should see no major changes to the daily operation of the brand in the short term, and the brand will continue to be managed out of Colorado. Rhino-Rack will be consolidating operations in Denver, Colorado, for improved rail delivery access and ceasing operations in Grand Junction, Colorado.
