Hipcamp Launches Expansion To Grow Campground Bookings

Hipcamp announced a major expansion that brings together public campgrounds, established resorts and unique camping experiences on farms and ranches — all in one app.

With this major update, Hipcamp has more than doubled the size of its inventory, now truly offering everything from RV resorts to blueberry farms, opening new doors for operators and campers alike.

As the first app to unify the camp and RV site search experience, Hipcamp said it is making it easier for campers to explore a wide range of outdoor options without jumping between different websites and tools, driving new business to park and campground operators.

“For too long, campers have faced a maze of disconnected websites just to plan a simple weekend outdoors,” said Alyssa Ravasio, CEO and founder of Hipcamp. “By bringing more camping experiences together, we’re making it easier for people to get outside while supporting the campgrounds, RV parks and landowners who are the backbone of the outdoor economy. And by making camping more accessible, we’re helping the industry reach new, more diverse audiences who will sustain it for generations to come.”

Through this expansion, Hipcamp is now giving every operator access to its fast-growing community of over 7 million frequent campers — an audience that skews young and digitally savvy, the company said. It also broadens the outdoor economy by introducing new kinds of campers to the industry: urban adventurers, family roadtrippers and first-time outdoor travelers eager to discover new ways to experience the outdoors.

The expansion comes at a pivotal moment for outdoor travel. While the number of active campers in the U.S. has surged by 68% over the past decade, the industry is navigating shifting demand patterns in the wake of the pandemic. More than half of new campers say they are camping less due to overcrowding, and 56% percent of campers report difficulty booking a site because campgrounds are full.

As we head into a summer with widespread closures of public parks and campgrounds, it is more important than ever to expose all the great camping options in America in a unified, user-friendly experience, so that campers and RVers can see all the campsites in one place.

“The reality is there are so many great places to camp in America, but historically, it’s been way too hard for so many people — especially new young campers who didn’t have the benefit of growing up camping — to find them,” Ravasio said. “And right now, people are discouraged by how hard it is to book campsites. With this new version of Hipcamp, our goal is to get more people outside and make it simple for them to connect with all the great camping out there. We don’t want to live in a future where campsites are only experienced through virtual reality goggles, so this is our way of building a future where more and more people go camping every year.”

What’s New:

  • Expanded inventory: Hipcamp now lists more than 500,000 campsites across the U.S., doubling the number of sites available to explore.
  • Broader discovery: Campers can easily find and book everything from state parks to family-owned RV resorts to working blueberry farms, all in one trusted place.
  • New insights & tools: Verified listings receive greater visibility, actionable analytics and in-app Host tools to increase bookings and manage guest expectations.
  • More diverse audiences: Hipcamp connects campgrounds and RV parks with a new generation of younger, tech-savvy and adventure-seeking campers.

At its core, this expansion is about delivering on Hipcamp’s mission to get more people outside. By unifying all types of camping in a single app, Hipcamp is not only increasing access to the outdoors but also reshaping what camping means today and growing the entire outdoor industry in the process. When camping is easier to find and plan, everyone wins—campers, campgrounds, and local communities alike.
