RoverPass Releases Labor Day Weekend Data Recap

RoverPass, a reservation and property management platform for campgrounds and RV parks, has published its Labor Day Weekend 2026 recap, releasing holiday booking data while owners can still act on it for the fall season. The same store analysis shows reservations down 5.3% from 2025, longer average stays and a cancellation rate that climbed to 15.74%.

The report compares Sept. 4-8, with Aug. 29 through Sept. 2, 2025, and includes only campgrounds that hosted stays in both years. Both holidays fell on a Monday, so no calendar adjustment was needed, and all figures come from platform reservation data, RoverPass said.

For operators, the most actionable finding is where cancellations landed. Cancellations two to seven days before check in rose 4.3 points, while those 30 or more days out fell 4.7 points, the company said. A site given back a month early can usually be resold; one given back three days out often cannot.

Operational signals from the recap:

  • Reservations down 5.3% year over year, following a 5.8% July 4 decline
  • Average length of stay up to 3 nights, with fewer single night stays
  • Cancellation rate up to 15.74% from 12.61%, concentrated near arrival
  • Online direct booking up to 59.5%, with phone down to 23.8%

“Owners do not need another year end summary; they need something they can use before the next long weekend,” said Ravi Parikh, CEO and founder at RoverPass. “When you can see that late cancellations are rising, you can tighten deposits, build a waitlist and get sites back on the market faster. That is the difference between reading data and running on it.”

The behavior underneath the numbers was steadier than the headline count suggests, with guests booking longer trips further ahead and fewer of them treating a holiday site as a last-minute decision. For a park that plans around it, that shift is easier to work with than a drop in genuine interest, because longer and earlier bookings are more predictable to staff, stock and schedule against.

“Everything in this edition is same store, and we treat the 15.74% cancellation figure as a floor because late cancellations were still coming in when we pulled the data,” said Melisa Chang, marketing director at RoverPass. “We would rather give operators a conservative number they can plan against than a tidy one they cannot.”

The full Labor Day Weekend 2026 recap is available now, alongside the July 4 recap and the 2026 Outdoor Hospitality Report. Campground owners and operators can see more about the platform behind the report through the RoverPass campground reservation and management software.
