Coachmen RV, a division of Forest River Inc., announced the launch of the new Remote 8 Wide Series, arriving in September 2026. Building on the success of the original 7 Wide lineup, the new 8 Wide Series brings a larger footprint, greater versatility, a rugged new exterior design and a long list of purposeful features designed for campers who want to explore beyond the traditional campground without the weight, complexity or price of a specialized expedition trailer, Coachmen said in a recent release.
Remote originally launched as a sub-brand of Coachmen Apex before becoming its own standalone division in 2025 with the introduction of the 7 Wide Series. Since then, Remote has established a distinct identity centered around lightweight towability, off-grid capability, smart design and attainable pricing.
The new 8 Wide Series represents the next chapter of that story, the company said.
With three floorplans, including the 198RBC, 228RBH and 238RRB, Remote is expanding its offering while staying true to the philosophy that made the brand successful from the start.
A New Expression of Remote
The Remote 8 Wide Series introduces a more aggressive and purposeful exterior design that reflects its rugged performance, Coachmen said. Built for campers who want to venture farther, the new lineup combines durable construction, increased ground clearance, enhanced off-grid systems and practical storage solutions in a package designed to remain tow-friendly, affordable and accessible.
“Remote was created around a simple idea: you shouldn’t need an oversized or overpriced RV to get away from the expected,” said Andy Brock, general manager of Coachmen Remote.
“The 8 Wide takes that idea to the next level. It gives our customers more space, more functionality and a much more rugged look while staying focused on the things that really matter when you are out camping.”
The Remote 8 Wide is designed for couples, young families and independent-minded campers who want the freedom to leave traditional hookups behind, the company said. Its combination of lightweight towability, adventure-ready performance and attainable pricing provides an alternative to complex and expensive adventure trailers.

Remote engineered the 8 Wide Series around features that support real-world adventure, from off-grid power and water capacity to suspension, stabilization, protection and storage.

Kitchen storage and countertop space are designed to provide extra capacity, while the butler’s pantry adds dedicated kitchen storage in a space where it is typically unavailable.
Storage totes provide versatile, multifunctional organization, while additional features throughout the lineup help owners make the most of every available space, the company said.
The 228RBH adds the Versa Cot, a lightweight and versatile bunk that can serve as a sleeping space, outdoor cot or dog bed. The Remote Stack provides additional exterior storage above the A-frame, extending usable storage beyond the main body of the trailer. A dedicated rod rack provides individual fishing rod storage, while murphy bed storage maximizes available space when the bed is not in use.
Purpose-Built for Towing & Handling
Remote designed the 8 Wide Series to remain accessible to a broad range of tow vehicles while adding features that provide confidence on and off the pavement. Key features include:
- Standard 15-inch All Terrain Rainier ST tires provide a capable foundation for both highway travel and less-traveled roads, with a matching spare tire and mount included as standard equipment.
- Extra-tall diamond plate protection extends across the front and sides of the trailer to help protect the coach from road debris and the demands of off-pavement travel.
- A hybrid tongue jack combines manual and electric operation, allowing owners to operate the jack using the crank or a 3/4-inch bit for added convenience.
Convenience Where It Matters
The Remote 8 Wide Series also simplifies the camping experience with thoughtful utility features, Coachmen said:
- The Nauti-Dock groups hookups together in one convenient location, making setup and breakdown easier. An LP quick connect provides a convenient connection point for additional accessories, while a black tank flush helps keep tank sensors reading accurately.
- A 12-volt accessory outlet provides additional utility at camp, while 37-gallon gray and black tanks help extend the time between campground service stops.
- A full-length awning provides coverage along the camp side of the trailer, creating a comfortable outdoor living area protected from sun and weather.
Ready for Life Off the Grid
Remote designed the 8 Wide Series to make off-grid camping more attainable without requiring customers to purchase a highly specialized expedition trailer, the company said. Features include:
- The L.Ion Den provides lithium-ion and inverter preparation within a climate-controlled pass-through, creating a dedicated location for expanded off-grid power capabilities.
- A roof-mounted air conditioner is compatible with small generators, helping owners maintain comfort in remote locations without requiring oversized power equipment. A second air conditioner is available as an option for customers looking to further increase cooling capacity and efficiency.
Together, these systems support Remote’s goal of making extended off-grid travel more accessible to everyday campers.
Floorplans
The Remote 8 Wide Series launches with three floorplans created for different camping lifestyles.
- The 198RBC is a couples-focused, no-slide floorplan that emphasizes simplicity, maneuverability and efficient use of space.
- The 228RBH adds a single slide and bunkhouse configuration, providing families with additional living space and sleeping flexibility while incorporating Remote’s versatile Versa Cot.
- The 238RRB rounds out the initial lineup with a layout that maximizes livability and storage while supporting adventure beyond the traditional campground.
Across all three models, Remote follows a consistent design philosophy, the company said: provide the features campers actually use, build them into a durable and tow-friendly platform, and keep the experience within reach.
A Different Way To Get Away
The adventure-trailer category has increasingly equated performance with more equipment, weight, complexity and cost. Remote takes a different approach, Coachmen said.
Remote customers want solar capability, increased water capacity, durable construction, protection from the elements, thoughtful storage and the confidence to leave traditional hookups behind. They do not necessarily need a specialized expedition rig to achieve it.
The 8 Wide Series is designed to challenge that equation.
Its darker, more rugged exterior styling and expanded capabilities strengthen Remote’s identity while the 7 Wide Series continues to provide an accessible entry point for campers looking for a compact and easy-to-tow trailer.

The new Coachmen Remote 8 Wide Series will launch in September 2026 through participating Coachmen RV dealers.
