Intellitec Products Touts First UL-Listed Futuro GMI
Intellitec Products, a leading provider of electrical control solutions for the recreational vehicle, specialty vehicle, and marine industries, announced that its 50 Amp Futuro grounding monitor interrupter (GMI) has achieved UL Listing.
The 50 Amp Futuro GMI is the first product in Intellitec’s planned GMI product family to achieve UL Listing, with the 30 Amp version currently in the final stages of testing, the company said. Developed through four years of engineering, industry collaboration and real-world evaluation, the Futuro GMI product family is designed to help prevent hazardous electrical conditions commonly referred to as “hot skin,” reinforcing Intellitec’s commitment to electrical safety, product innovation and advancing electrical protection solutions for the RV industry.
“This is an important milestone for Intellitec and a significant achievement for our entire team,” said Ned Schiff, president of Intellitec Products. “Our technical team, led by Austin Ciambriello, director of engineering, and David Bailey of DB Tech, our strategic partner in power product development, has worked tirelessly over the past four years to develop a robust GMI product line that addresses the demanding requirements of our industry.
“We greatly appreciate the contributions of our industry partners, the RV Industry Association (RVIA), and UL in helping establish and advance the performance requirements for these products. As Intellitec celebrates 50 years of providing innovative solutions to the RV industry, we are extremely proud of the Futuro GMI product family and the engineering effort behind it.”
Engineered Through Industry Collaboration
The development of the Futuro GMI product family reflects Intellitec’s commitment to working closely with OEMs, industry partners and technical organizations to develop products that address real-world applications, customer requirements and manufacturing considerations, Intellitec said.
“For the past four years, we have worked closely with our industry and OEM partners to understand their applications, challenges and performance requirements,” said Ciambriello. “Their feedback has been instrumental in shaping the Futuro GMI design and incorporating value-added features that support product performance, ease of installation and manufacturing efficiency.
“These features include surge protection, lever locks for simplified installation, a straightforward method for production hipot testing and design considerations intended to reduce the likelihood of nuisance tripping of GFCI outlets.
“We have also made CAD drawings, installation instructions and operation manuals available as part of our product development and certification process. This provides our customers and OEM partners with the technical resources needed to evaluate the products, prepare for integration, and plan for implementation.”
Continuous Field Testing & OEM Validation
Intellitec has invested considerable time in evaluating the Futuro GMI product family in real-world electrical system applications, working directly with OEM customers and conducting field evaluations to better understand operating conditions, system compatibility and customer requirements, the company said.
Craig Floyd, vice president of sales at Intellitec Products, emphasized the importance of validating product performance beyond laboratory testing.
“It is critical that our GMI products not only meet applicable product standards but also perform as intended in the environments where they will be used,” said Floyd. “We have been field-testing units for two years and have provided samples to customers for evaluation within their electrical systems.
“The UL-listed product is, for all practical purposes, consistent with the original samples we provided to customers in September 2025. Maintaining that consistency throughout the development and certification process reflects our commitment to product reliability, design integrity and customer confidence.
“We have also worked directly with campgrounds to evaluate electrical outlets and conditions in the field. These evaluations have provided valuable insight into real-world applications and the electrical environments our customers encounter.
“Combining engineering development, customer feedback and field testing has been an important part of ensuring that the Futuro GMI product family is developed with the needs of our industry in mind.”
Manufacturing & Supply Chain Readiness
As Intellitec advances the Futuro GMI product family toward broader market introduction, the company said it has focused on manufacturing readiness, supply chain development, production processes and OEM support.
“Our operations team has been focused on supply chain development, manufacturing processes, production scale-up, logistics, and field support since early last year,” Schiff added.
“Intellitec’s vertically integrated, ISO 9000 quality-certified, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in DeLand, Florida, provides us with a solid foundation to support production and meet the evolving needs of our industry. We have also established a strategic alliance with the team at SM Osgood to provide additional OEM-level support.
“These investments reflect our commitment to preparing for production, supporting our customers and delivering the Futuro GMI product family to the market. Our engineering capabilities, manufacturing infrastructure, quality processes and industry relationships position Intellitec well to support the continued development and adoption of GMI technology.”
