RV Industry Inventor Keith Ott Dies at 77
Keith E. Ott, 77, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Elkhart General Hospital. He is credited, according to his obituary in the Elkhart Truth, with creating the RV bra.
Ott was born on April 3, 1940, in Millersburg, Ind., to Orion Ott and Inez Pepper.
He married Monica P. Stevens on May 24, 1965, in Elkhart.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Monica, three daughters, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters.
Ott was preceded in death by his mom and dad, two sisters, Rachel Miller, Doris Brown, and three brothers, Bobby Ott, Bruce and Brian Pepper.
Ott was a proud over the road truck driver. He worked at and drove for Coachman Industries, then delivered units for Horizon Transport, Honey RV, and Thoroughbred. He was the first driver to receive an award for driving over the road 1 million miles accident free.
Ott proudly served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Germany.
He was a handyman and jack-of-all-trades and could never say no to anyone who needed a helping hand. He was a very active member in his church and was part of a mission’s trip to Mexico.
He is loved by his family and will be missed.
Celebration of life services for Ott will be held at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Trinity Praise and Worship Assembly, 56655 CR 1, Elkhart, IN 46516.
