Banks Power Unveils 4-Inch Monster Exhaust
Banks Power recently introduced its new 4-inch Monster Exhaust with CoolCuff for the 2017 to 2018 GM 6.6L Duramax L5P 2500HD/3500HD. The DPF-back exhaust system features constant-diameter 4-inch mandrel bent 409 stainless steel tubing and the exclusive CoolCuff exhaust gas temperature reduction system.
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) on the Duramax L5P is cleaned through a process called regeneration. Exhaust gas temperatures greater than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit are produced at the DPF outlet during regen. The Monster Exhaust with CoolCuff reduces temps as much as or more than stock while cutting power-robbing backpressure.
Real-world testing of the Monster Exhaust during regen revealed an average reduction of 350 degrees when compared to stock at 8 inches from the tip during highway cruising.
The CoolCuff is located inboard, drawing cool air from outside the exhaust, reducing the temperature of the hot exhaust gasses before exiting the tail pipe. When testing in regen on the dyno, competitors’ temps 8 inches from the tip ranged from 770 degrees to 802 degrees, the company stated, while the Monster Exhaust measured 485 degrees.
The Banks 4-inch Monster Exhaust with CoolCuff (part No. 48947 for chrome or No. 48947-B for black) fits all regular cab short bed, double cab short bed, double cab long bed, crew cab short bed and crew cab long bed models and is now available via Banks Power authorized dealers for $449.99.
