Community: Stewart’s RV Calls for Camp Fire Donations, RVs
The owner of an RV dealership in American Fork, Utah, is offering a helping hand to those devastated by wildfire in California.
This story by Bronagh Tumulty originally appeared on KUTV News 2.
The Camp Fire, in Paradise, Calif., killed more than 80 people and wiped out about 14,000 homes, leaving many, many people sleeping in little more than tents.
Mark Black’s friend and neighbor, Barry Rellaford, is among those in Utah originally from Paradise. He knew there was a need for a solid roof over people’s heads out there and reached out to Black, who immediately donated a motor home.
Rellaford then got the word out further, and donations started rolling in — so many, that he was able to purchase three more trailers from Black at cost price.
They’ve driven two out already and two more will start the journey on Wednesday morning.
They’re hoping more will follow suit and are asking anyone with an old, relatively functioning trailer or RV to donate it if possible. Even if it needs work, the folks at the dealership can fix it up and get it ready to go.
If you’d like to donate cash toward purchasing more trailers, Rellaford is working on getting a partnership set up with the Butte County Taxpayer’s League, a non-profit in California.
In the interim, donations can be dropped off at Stewart’s RV.
