The RV Dealers Association regrets to inform its members that Joanne Weber Kindlund passed away Jan. 21 after a long fight with cancer. Joanne was a remarkable entrepreneur, Merchant Marine Captain, and avid world traveler. With husband Newt, she co-founded the RV industry’s first publicly-owned national dealer chain, Holiday RV Superstores. She was 69.
During the mid-1980s, Joanne was an executive board member of the Orlando Museum of Art, and she served as a parent alumni admissions representative for Phillips Academy Andover for more than 20 years.
Joanne was honored throughout her career by Inc. magazine, Fortune, Florida Trend, and various RV industry publications for her business accomplishments. She and her husband played pivotal roles in developing retail standards that the RV industry still follows today. Together, they established the Kindlund Family Scholarship program within RVDA’s Mike Molino RV Learning Center.
In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by her brother Owen (Donna Weber), son Darien (Kathy Wang), daughters Erika (Garry Trigger) and Kirsten (Larry Erdosh), and grandchildren Ian, Wyatt, Francesca, and Gwendolyn.
A funeral and celebration of her life will be held among friends, family, and relatives at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 North Park Avenue, Winter Park, Fla., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.
