Germany’s Optiplan Develops New Composite Floor
German supplier Optiplan recently developed a functional composite floor product for lightweight construction in motorhomes. POLYDET LiteFloor is an inseparable composite of glass-fiber reinforced plastics with a PVC cover layer.
During a continuous production process, the PVC coating is directly laminated into the liquid resin. There is no subsequent gluing process. A close compound of the PVC cover layer and the substrate is generated, helping to ensure that moisture cannot penetrate the floor and no mold can develop.
Furthermore, embedded in a sandwich panel with PU foam, the product has a positive stabilizing effect on the overall floor construction. With the backside of the compound being a layer of tension and torsion-resistant glass fiber reinforced plastic, a conventional, wooden substructure is not needed at all, according to the company. Therefore, the construction of a fully insulated floor can be realized solely with the composite floor.
The new lightweight laminate can be manufactured in many design variants. Product-specific parameters like color scheme and surface structure, are determined by the customers’ choice.
