Fastway has released the newest addition in the Ball Mount line, the Integrated Scale Ball Mount or ISBM. The product features an integrated tongue weight scale that helps trailer owners reach proper tongue weight for each trailer load for improved towing performance and greater safety, according to the company.
The ISBM is made with aircraft-grade aluminum and weighs less than half of comparable steel ball mounts. The lightweight frame can take the weight with a max tongue load of 1,000 pounds and a max trailer weight of 10,000 pounds.
Tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of the total trailer weight.
The ISBM shows how much of the trailer weight is on the tongue, or where the trailer meets the ball mount. A properly balanced load can help drivers with improved steering, braking control, and reduced trailer sway.
The ISBM uses a mechanical spring in the mount for weight measurement. Jason Harper, one of the engineers that helped design the ISBM, explained the reasoning as, “a simple design that helps bring durability, longevity and peace of mind.”
