Australian RV Maker Expanding and Adding Huge 3D Printer to Factory Floor
This Australian manufacturer uses 3D printing to make some of its components. As part of its facility expansion, the company is upgrading to a much larger printer.
All-composite caravan manufacturer Zone RV announced a major expansion of its Sunshine Coast, Queensland, plant, including the purchase of a 22-meter by 5-meter (approximately 76-foot by 16-foot) 3D printer, said to be the largest in the southern hemisphere.
Founder Dave Biggar and CEO Adrian Toft hosted Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson on an inspection of its expanding facilities.
Toft said he was very excited the new facility and the big 3D printer, according to media reports.
Toft said, “At 22 meters by 5 meters wide, it is huge.
“We’re hiring now and if you have an interest in automation, robotics and mechatronics, come and talk to us.”
Zone RV incorporates technology from the aeronautical and marine industries to build lighter, stronger and safer off-road caravans with all-composite bodies and cabinetry systems.
This helps users keep below the Gross Combined Mass (GCM) of their tow vehicles.
The composite bodies sit on a bespoke chassis and specially designed CruiseMaster suspension systems suitable for Australian corrugated roads.
