“With the approach of spring and warmer weather in many parts of the country, we are beginning to see some changes in the RV market,” said Eric Lawrence at Black Book, in his most recent monthly report. “Towable values increased moderately, reversing three consecutive months of declines, and although motorized units did not also increase, their drop off was only a fraction of a percent, a marked improvement over last month’s sharp decline.
“Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for motorized units was $68,842 which is down $395 (0.5 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $21,865, up $1,345 (6.5 percent) from last month. One year ago the average motor home sold for $60,739 and the average towable unit brought $19,570.
“Auction volume was up: Motorhomes increased 2.5 percent while towables rose 6.8 percent.
“The average age of motorhomes was eleven years old (2011) and towables was six (2016).”
