Cummins to Reopen Company Offices, Issues Statement on Ukraine
Power generation company Cummins announced an April 4 date when it will re-open its Columbus, Ind., headquarters for the first time in two years. The offices have shuttered since then because of COVID-19.
As reported in Columbus news outlet The Republic, the company said it had done a reassessment of all its workers and it will now classify them as fully on-site, fully remote or a hybrid between the two, based upon each position.
Cummins employs about 8,000 people in the Columbus area and has several downtown offices, including its headquarters, which employs nearly 1,000.
The company did not specify how many would be returning to on-site work, but one downtown restaurant owner said it was “wonderful” news for the downtown community after a “very hard” couple of years.

Cummins also recently issued a statement about the situation in Ukraine. The company employs about 700 workers in Russia, but said it “strongly condemns the action of the Russian government” and is “supportive of actions aimed at ending the invasion and de-escalating the situation.”
