John Sammut, VP of sales and marketing for Newmar, said that after 26 years in the industry, he will be stepping down in May. He’ll continue in his role through the spring selling season, including the annual Newmar dealer event and introduction of the 2024 model year product line.

Newmar logoSammut joined Newmar in 2004 as Director of Sales after holding leadership roles at Fleetwood RV, and he was promoted to VP of sales and marketing in 2006. He was a key member of the executive team that guided the company through the recession from 2008 ‐2010, Newmar said. Coming out of that challenging time, the manufacturer had  39 retail locations in the U.S. and Canada. The company said that with his leadership, and a talented sales and marketing team, Newmar has since doubled its retail locations across North America, building strong relationships with top tier dealer partners.

Sammut also played an active role in product planning efforts, helping to enhance Newmar’s unparalleled reputation for quality and craftsmanship, his company said. During his tenure, Newmar introduced several successful new brands including Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, Ventana, New Aire, London Aire, King Aire and the company’s first Super C product lines, Super Star and Supreme Aire.

His numerous contributions to dealer network expansion, strong new products and sales and marketing excellence are credited with helping grow Newmar’s total Class A market share from just over 5% in 2010 to nearly 13% today, and diesel Class A share from just over 6% to over 27% as of November 2022.

Sammut was recently recognized by the Winnebago Industries’ leadership team with the Trusted Leadership Value Award.
