Meyer’s RV Superstores Acquires Johnston RV Country

Meyer's RV Superstores

Meyer’s RV Superstores has purchased Johnston RV Country in Webster, New York, from Aaron Johnston, son of the founder.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Meyer’s RV Superstores was founded by the Meyer family in 1967. The RV group currently operates 14 locations across New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio and Maryland.

Johnston RV was founded in 1988 by Gary Johnston, who got his start in the RV business at a small Airstream dealership in 1959. The Johnston family operated a full-line Jayco dealership for the past 32 years. Johnston’s oldest son, Aaron, joined the business in 1991 and became president in 2002.

Johnston RV has been renamed Meyer’s RV of Rochester and will continue to operate at its current location at 784 Ridge Road in Webster, New York, under the ownership of Mark Meyer and Mark Calzone, who have more than 70 years of combined experience in the RV business.

“Knowing Aaron (Johnston) throughout most of my career made this an exciting transaction,” said Meyer. “His dealership was one of the cleanest and organized stores we’ve come across, and adding Jayco and Rockwood to our franchises completes our lineup. We look forward to making Johnston RV Country part of the Meyer’s family and taking it to the next level.”

Jesse Stopnitzky, senior partner and director of the RV division at Performance Brokerage Services acted as the exclusive advisor for this transaction.

“We would like to thank the Johnston family for entrusting us with the sale of their generational family business,” Stopnitzky said. “Being intimately involved in such pivotal moments, our clients often become our friends through the process. This was certainly the case and a privilege working with Aaron Johnston. He was an absolute gentleman and governed by a higher code of ethics and honesty, on which we connected from our first conversation.”
