Owners of Sioux City Dealership Plead Guilty in Fraud Charges
The owners of a South Sioux City RV dealership have accepted plea deals with prosecutors who charged them with 50 counts of fraud.
The case has been reported by the Siouxland News, the CBS-TV affiliate in Sioux City, Iowa.
62-year-old Douglas Bras and 57-year-old Shara Bras each had a plea hearing Tuesday in Dakota County District Court. He pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft by deception and one count each of four other charges. She pleaded no contest to 11 counts of theft by deception and one count each of four other charges.
It all stems from a months-long investigation into their business, “Fremont RV,” when at least a dozen people complained to the police that they hadn’t received full payment for campers they sold or titles for campers they bought.
The couple is due to be sentenced on June 21. Under the terms of their plea deals, each faces at least 60 days in prison and must pay $12,000 in restitution.
