KOA Appoints Senior VP of Franchise Operations
Kampgrounds of America (KOA) announced that long-time franchisee Mark Lemoine will join its corporate executive team as senior vice president of franchise operations.
Lemoine, who has operated the Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday in Michigan since 2016, brings extensive franchise experience to the position. He will play a key role in strengthening the connection between KOA’s corporate leadership and its franchise system.
According to a press release, Lemoine’s leadership within the KOA network has been notable, as he has actively contributed to franchisee support through founding a 20-group and engaging with the KOA Owners Association. His involvement extends to the broader outdoor hospitality community, serving on the board of directors for the Care Camps Foundation. Before joining KOA, Lemoine had a 30-year career in government affairs and business consulting.
Reflecting on his new role, Lemoine expressed gratitude for his journey as a franchisee and the opportunity to contribute to KOA’s future growth. “It’s been an incredible journey filled with faith, risk, hard work, and the reward of serving our guests,” he said.
“I’m honored to have demonstrated that the American Dream is alive and well, and to now have the opportunity to contribute to the growth, innovation, and success of my fellow KOA franchisees,” he added.
Lemoine’s ties to the business community in Southwest Michigan and his leadership at the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber, where he has served as chair for four years, further position him as a valuable addition to KOA’s corporate team.

Lemoine’s appointment coincides with the departure of Darin Uselman, KOA’s current chief operations officer, who will leave his position at the end of the year to pursue ministry. Uselman has been with KOA for seven years and oversaw franchise operations, along with the management of KOA-owned properties.
The company has not announced any changes to its owned portfolio leadership following Uselman’s departure.
O’Rourke expressed appreciation for Uselman’s contributions to KOA. “Darin has been a critical contributor to our business,” she said. “I’m grateful to have partnered with him these past seven years. We are a better company because of his leadership, and I support him fully as he embarks on this new, important journey.”
