RVIA Urges Industry to Contact Congress About Public Land Restoration

Inadequate federal campgrounds and deteriorating or closed roads, bridges and facilities negatively impact visitor experiences and RVers in particular, the RV Industry Association recently stated. To address these issues, RVIA is asking Congress to address the $11.6 billion maintenance backlog in our national parks.

The Restore Our Parks Act (S.3172) and the Restore Our Parks and Public Lands Act (H.R.6510) will do that, RVIA stated. The bipartisan bills offer a solution to modernize and update national parks, including campgrounds.

At a time when the RV industry is growing at record levels, RV overnight stays at national parks have been declining from more than 4.5 million overnights in the early 1980s to only 2.5 million overnight stays in 2016 due to outdated Eisenhower-era infrastructure, deferred maintenance needs and limited RV camping availability.
