Rolling Retreats RV will become the exclusive dealer of the Forks RV Continental Coach fifth wheel, according to Alicia Tennery, who co-owns the Elk City, Okla., dealership.
The partnership marks a transition for Forks, which previously made the luxury fifth wheel line as a manufacturer-direct, custom-only fifth wheel.
“We’re getting some more production-friendly products that would be more in line with the price-line of an elite suite,” Tennery said.
A longtime Rolling Retreats customer recommended the dealership to leadership at Shipshewana, Ind.-based Forks, and the two businesses began discussing the deal that will make Rolling Retreats the sole dealership outlet.
For fans of Continental, the partnership should produce a handful of floorplans available to customers at a much lower price than a custom unit.
“We’ve done a lot of work and made a lot of changes to get the price point down,” Tennery said, adding that she expects the price point to be slightly higher than that of the DRV line the dealership offers.
Forks is currently manufacturing the show unit for Rolling Retreats RV, which Tennery hopes to show off at the Tampa SuperShow later this year.
Tennery, who still plans to feature a full lineup of DRV fifth wheels, said that business for the company is slightly off from last year.
“(Business) is not as great as last year, but we’re still plenty busy,” she said.
Uncertainty in the economy, coupled with customer hesitation following the Thor purchase of the DRV lineup, might have slowed some early season buyers, according to Tennery, who added that unease from the acquisition was quickly dispelled.
“I think they were just a little nervous at first … but overall (the DRV lineup) is the same, and I think customers are seeing that the quality is the same, and so they have gotten more comfortable.”
