Forty Years of Innovation

Manager30, unit and remote battery monitorAustralian-based, advanced manufacturer, REDARC Electronics is widely recognized for its world-class range of electronic products, including the research, design, development and manufacture of towing and battery charging products for RV, truck, marine, trailer and overlanding enthusiasts.

Established in 1979, the family-owned business, celebrated its 40th anniversary in August. Looking forward to the future with great optimism, the company is becoming a significant supplier of Australian made, innovative, high quality products to North America.

Their focus on innovative technology and development has been a key ingredient in helping them achieve tremendous growth over the years. With four decades of experience, REDARC’s knowledge of North American conditions has been factored into the engineering of every product, allowing REDARC to set a new industry standard.

Innovation

Managing Director Anthony Kittel says that their commitment to innovation is unwavering. So much so, that REDARC continually invest in research and development.

“To say that we focus on innovation is not enough. We invest 15 percent of revenue into our R&D department which contributes to an innovative culture and leads to innovative products and solutions,” he said.

Quality

REDARC is committed to doing things right the first time. To ensure that quality remains REDARC’s hallmark, their products are built and tested for harsh conditions.  Their new state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing capability coupled with continuous improvement processes, mean that REDARC products benefit from an ever-increasing level of durability. This, of course, leads to greater customer satisfaction.

Customer satisfaction

“We are committed to our customers in not only giving them high quality products, but also providing them with an unmatched level of customer service,” said Kittel.

In 1997, REDARC adopted the philosophy ‘Customer is King’, as well as a ‘no questions asked’ hassle-free warranty replacement which has been implemented effectively. The customer service team is based on-site at their facility. At the cost of a local call, customers can phone REDARC using a direct contact number for the U.S., Canada and Mexico, to receive qualified and professional technical advice. Customers may also opt to enquire via email correspondence.

Solutions provider

The company currently serves the U.S. market with its innovative battery management solutions, DC to DC chargers, and provides a vehicle-safety solution with the award-winning Tow-Pro Elite Electric Trailer Brake Controller.

Manager30, Battery Management System

The Manager30 is a battery management system designed to put the user in charge. This state-of-the-art system will charge and maintain auxiliary batteries by incorporating AC, DC, and solar inputs.

This innovation is a complete dual battery system and maintenance solution that will charge common battery types including lithium iron phosphate batteries, and is ideal for RVs, caravans and camper trailers with multiple battery banks. If charging one auxiliary battery or more, The Manager30 will ensure they’re always fully charged, giving the user peace of mind while providing them with the comforts of home.

The Manager30 is compatible with all vehicles and alternator systems including variable voltage alternators, and it features load sharing capabilities and green power priority.

This innovative product operates like six products in one:

  • Charges auxiliary batteries from the vehicle alternator while on the move.
  • It’s a 110-volt AC shore mains power charger
  • An MPPT solar regulator.
  • A battery isolator.
  • A load disconnect controller.
  • And includes a remote battery monitor, making it market-leading.

BCDC In-vehicle Battery Chargers

The past decade has seen REDARC contribute to the evolution of vehicular charging with a range of innovative and high-quality products. REDARC set the benchmark in DC-DC charging with their BCDC range of In-vehicle battery chargers, that work by isolating the main battery system from the alternator and charge an auxiliary battery when driving.

REDARC’s BCDC ‘dual’ input range includes the 25-amp BCDC1225D, 40-amp BCDC1240D and the 50-amp BCDC1250D DC-DC chargers. They are ideal to quickly charge auxiliary batteries, so that 12-volt electrical accessories in a trailer, motorhome or caravan, such as electrical hydraulic pumps, fridges, lights, tailgates, phones, laptops and camera chargers can be used.

The REDARC ‘dual’ range offers innovative features including:

  • Simultaneous solar and DC charging.
  • Built-in ‘Green Power Priority’ that selects solar charging first, meaning less load on the alternator.
  • Suitable for 12- or 24-volt vehicle systems.
  • Compatible with standard or variable/smart alternators.
  • REDARC’s patented charging profiles makes them suitable for charging AGM, GEL, Standard Lead Acid, Calcium and lithium batteries.
  • Charges batteries to a proven 100 percent.
  • The SmartStart technology is engineered to constantly monitor the vehicle’s battery charge level and protect the start battery from excessive discharge.
  • Built tough to handle severe conditions.

The new larger and more powerful BCDC1250D is the latest edition to the range. Launched to the U.S. market in August, the BDCD1250D has been tested in the extreme heat of the Aussie outback and can operate up to 176 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing a flexible install, whether mounted in an engine bay to inside a motorhome or camper trailer. It also won Gold for the Most Innovative New Aftermarket Product at the prestigious Australian Automotive Aftermarket Awards in April.

REDARC’s Export Manager Craig Herriot, said that REDARC’s BCDC Dual range has been well received in the North American market. “The dual input BCDC’s have proven to be popular with the end users and the feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Herriot. “The addition of a 50-amp model will allow the user to charge higher capacity RV batteries or multiple battery banks.”

Tow-Pro Elite, Electric Trailer Brake Controllers

The REDARC Tow-Pro Elite is a revolutionary Electric Trailer Brake Controller that delivers smooth, safe braking on all trailer types, including enclosed, flat bed, fifth wheel, gooseneck, livestock, RV, marine and dump trailers.

REDARC’s innovative and patented technology, makes the Tow-Pro Elite the only electric trailer brake controller on the market today to feature two types of braking in the one unit; ‘User-controlled’ mode suitable for off-grid driving and ‘Proportional’ mode, suitable for highway driving conditions. The user can now choose the braking type depending on the terrain, vehicle type, and preference using the dash-mounted control knob.

Features of the Tow-Pro Elite include:

  • Compatible with new vehicle technology.
  • Active Calibration.
  • Works with Electric and Electric-over-Hydraulic trailer brakes.
  • Suitable for 12- and 24-volt vehicles.
  • Provides safe braking at the user’s fingertips via the dash mounted control knob.
  • Accessories available for a simpler, quality installation.

And for a neat and simpler fitment of the control knob into the dash, there are universal, and vehicle specific switch inserts available. Using a REDARC Wiring Harness provides an easy plug and play installation.

Kittel said, “REDARC have simplified the installation process of a REDARC Tow-Pro Elite by providing the complete package.”

It is these features along with the simplicity to install the main unit in any orientation, that has garnered national and international recognition and awards since its release. This includes a Global Media Award at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
