Jennifer Mercer is director of development for Care Camps, a nonprofit organization that exists to offer kids going through cancer – and their families – the opportunity to experience nature, at whatever level their illness will allow. What started as the brainchild of a few KOA franchisees has grown to encompass camps all across the country that host and care for kids and families at all stages of their illness. The Care Camps mission: “To give joy, hope, and healing power of the outdoors to children with cancer and their families at a specialized oncology camp.”
