‘A Year to Volunteer’ Taps Into RVers’ Giving Spirit
In the spirit of the holiday season, the spotlight shines today on “A Year to Volunteer,” a nonprofit that seeks to allow RVers to interweave volunteering some of their time with their travels.
Founded by two full-time RVers, Shar and Phil Roos, A Year to Volunteer engages other full-timers to pick a project that coincides with wherever it is they will be traveling. The work is typically done at a state park or monument, and could involve construction of a meeting hall, restoring an historic gate or carving out a hiking trail. Florida, South Carolina, Indiana, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Arizona are all places where work has been done. Thirty projects have been completed to date and the group has collectively contributed more than 37,000 hours toward the cause.
The website allows for looking up past projects and finding out where the group has projects planned for 2023.
