Airstream Will Make Only 30 Outland Edition Camper Vans
The following is a report from Auto Evolution.
If there’s one RV and camper manufacturer known the world over for its machines, it’s Airstream. Well, this time around, we dive deeper into the limited-run Outland Edition Class B RV, a spin on the existing Interstate 19X.
Ladies and gents, and lovers of the outdoors, feast your eyes upon one of Airstream’s newest additions to their ever-changing lineup, the 19X LE Outland Edition, an extremely versatile and limited-quantity machine designed to be your go-to habitat no matter where in the world your road takes you.
Now, kicking things off for this unit, allow me to point out that Airstream is building only a limited number of these babies. Only 30 such units will ever be built, so once they’re gone, they’re gone for good and the only way you’ll end up getting one after that is used.
With this limiting factor out of the way, let’s move on to the versatility side of things, and this is where we really see the lengths to which Airstream went to make this unit very special, to say the least. Judging by the images in the gallery, owning a 19X LE Outland Edition may end up feeling a whole lot like living out of a dance club with wheels, but with a very serious off-grid and adventurous twist.
First and foremost, there’s the sleeping loft found inside the Outland Edition. Why is this feature so important? It’s here that we see a newly redesigned bed system that places an elevated loft at our disposal. But the real trick is what you can do with this bed. Airstream allows us to choose between sleeping indoors or outdoors with a neat slideout system. The latter lets us count stars until we fall asleep.
It’s a neat feature that I haven’t seen elsewhere in the four years I’ve been covering campers and a clear reason why this Class B is worth considering; it’s a true “breaks the mold” unit. Be sure to take a moment out of your day to picture all the things you can do up here. I don’t even need to guide your imagination in any way. I will, however, point out that you can hang a swing chair from underneath this bed, yet another win in my book.
Up next, I can’t refrain from pointing out that the sound system of this unit is provided by none other than Sony. A DSX-GS80 receiver with four 8-inch REV Black V2 speakers and a 400 W woofer are all part of the magic of a 19X LE Outland Edition. Oh, and that whole light show you see, that’s part of this system too; you can turn any corner of this earth into a downright club.
