ARVC’s Prospective Owners Workshop Will Be Online

The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds said its Prospective Owners Workshop will now be offered in a one-day, online format on Thursday, June 4, replacing the in-person workshop originally scheduled for May in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The event is for people interested in buying or building an RV park or campground. Although the event is no longer in person, attendees will still be able to tap into the knowledge of industry experts on a wide range of topics, including financing, purchasing, marketing, insurance and more – in a safe, at-home setting.

The ARVC said the workshop will be fully interactive to allow attendees to ask questions, share ideas, discuss topics, share screens and review documents, and the presenters will still all be seasoned industry pros.

“We will have a number of excellent presenters who are experts in the industry, including many that have personal experience building and managing parks,” said Paula Horwitz, ARVC executive director, Education and Events. “Attendees will leave the workshop with a strong understanding of what it actually takes to own a campground and the knowledge of how to successfully build your business.”

Topics will include the importance of building key relationships in the outdoor hospitality industry, including current veteran park owners and managers, as well as industry suppliers; dealing with local agencies or “Authorities Having Jurisdiction” (AHJs), the organizations that write and enforce codes; and there will be a detailed discussion about NFPA 1194, the national standard that provides minimum construction requirements for the safety and health of occupants using facilities at RV parks and campgrounds.

“This (NFPA) standard is extremely important for you as a park owner when working with your local AHJs,” said Jeff Sims, ARVC’s senior director of state relations and program advocacy.

Because the event is now a one-day, online event, ARVC has reduced the cost from $499 to $299 for ARVC members and $599 for non-members.

“It’s an incredible value which will help new and prospective owners make more informed decisions for their parks,” Horwitz says.
