Michigan RV enthusiasts took advantage of favorable fall weather to attend the 27th Annual Fall Detroit Camper & RV Show, held Oct. 5-9 at Suburban Collection Showplace.
“There was strong attendance throughout the entire show,” said Darren Ing, Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds show director. “All our dealers and exhibitors noticed great enthusiasm and received a lot of qualified leads.”
Ing noted attendance was up 2.5 percent over last year’s show.
The 2016 Fall Detroit Camper & RV Show featured 286 vehicles, including 47 Class A motorhomes, 38 fifth wheel trailers and 156 travel trailers.
According to Gabrielle Selvius, general manger of National RV Detroit, Belleville, Michigan, “It was one of the best Fall Detroit Camper & RV Show we’ve ever experienced. Our sales team was busy all show long with a clientele who knew what they were looking for.”
For his first Fall Detroit Camper & RV Show, Patrick Sniff III of Pat’s RV Park in Mesick, Michigan, was very pleased. “We took three cabin reservations for this fall alone and talked to a lot of people about seasonal rentals. People are getting ready to go on vacations again and are looking to travel farther from home.”
The Marvelous MARVAC Michigan Giveaway—a contest offering multiple camping excursions donated by MARVAC members—was a major success with thousands of entries.
“The show’s popularity, with people queuing up early and taking time to enter the Marvelous MARVAC Michigan Giveaway, demonstrates the continuing importance the RV lifestyle has for many families in Michigan and the surrounding region,” said Ing.
MARVAC also sponsors shows in Battle Creek, Flint and Traverse City. In March 2017, MARVAC will be returning to Port Huron for a camper and RV show at the new Blue Water Convention Center. For information on upcoming shows, visit www.marvac.org.
