Attendees, Exhibitors Laud Value of MBA Rental School

LAS VEGAS – Veronica Quintero with Rent Me RVs in Clovis, Calif., attended the MBA Rental School for the first time last year.

She was back again this year, looking to expand upon her knowledge of best business practices while keep up with the latest developments in the rental market.

“There are always new things to learn – even one year later,” said Quintero, who has been running the rentals operation at Rent Me RVs for four years. “I’m always up for learning.”

This year’s MBA Rental School attracted about 60 attendees, some of them who are new to the rental market or who are pondering getting into the business, but a few of whom are veteran rental business owners who see the value in getting a refresher and the latest updates, according to MBA Vice President Josephine Johnson. The MBA Rental School is celebrating its 19th anniversary this year.

Maurice Carter, owner of Katy RV Rentals in Katy, Texas, was among those who were new attendees this year. Upon learning about the rental school from an industry contact, he quickly made the decision to attend, said Carter, who started his business late last year with three motorhomes.

For their part, attending vendors said they see the value in supporting the MBA Rental School for the knowledge it imparts to attendees.

“You’ve got to come here for what you can learn,” said Bill McAuley, owner of Dealership Software, whose eWebRenter software is endorsed by MBA and who has been a sponsor of the rental school since it started almost 20 years ago. In particular, McAuley singled out for praise MBA’s rental instructors, whom he called “the best in the business.”

“It’s a great school because the instructors are willing to answer any questions attendees have, including the financial side,” said Ben Beck, Class C motorhome territory rep for Coachmen, who has been representing the RV maker at the show for 10 years. “It’s been a great partnership for us, to promote Coachmen, the RV rentals business and the RV industry.”

Mitch Johnson, a Thor Motor Coach product team member, echoed that assessment.

The MBA Rental School offers “a great resource for new and experienced rental businesses,” he said. “We’re glad to be here to answer people’s questions and to support the rental market.”

This was TMC’s first year at the school.
