While some businesses are struggling to shake off the effects of the coronavirus, Bennington is looking to expand its boat-building capacity.
The company announced Thursday that it is acquiring a 43,485-square-foot building at 2707 County Road 15 to expand production and jobs in the county. Similar to RV manufacturers and other businesses that cater to outdoor activities, boat builders have experienced strong demand for their products through the pandemic.
The Center Six One Five building that Bennington will move into was previously used as a conference center, said Jake Vogel, president of Polaris Boats. The company was drawn to the building because of its proximity to other Bennington facilities and its suitability for near-immediate production.
