Black Book Reports Decreased Values

Black Book recently reported that the average selling price for motorized units was $43,729, which is down $4,540 (9.4 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $13,052, down $887 (6.3 percent) from last month. One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $49,211 and the average towable unit brought $12,585.

“The average selling price of motorized units at auction last month dropped roughly nine percent, which sounds significant, but if you exclude September’s unexpected price spike, the drop is really only about one and a half percent from two months ago, which would be expected going into colder weather,” said Eric Lawrence, director of specialty markets. “Trailer values have fallen off a decent amount from their summer highs, but it’s nothing that is unexpected for the time of year.”

Auction volume was mixed: motorized increased 3 percent from the previous month while towables dropped 16 percent.

The average ago of all units was eight years old (MY2010).
