Black Book Sees Towable Values Increase
Black Book has released its most recent monthly overview of the used RV market, showing that the average selling price for motorized units was $44,450, which is down $1,116 (2.4 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $15,021, up $217 (1.4 percent) from last month. One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $47,723 and the average towable unit brought $12,521.
“The average selling price of towables at auction last month creeped up about one a half percent, reaching another all-time high at just over $15,000,” said Eric Lawrence, director of specialty markets. “Surprisingly, the number of units available was down significantly. Motorized volumes were about the same as the previous month, but their values dipped once again, extending he trend we’ve been seeing most of the year. The average unit sold at auction was a 2010 model, or 8 years old.”
Auction volume was down across the board: motorized dropped 8 percent from the previous month and towables fell by 28 percent.
