Black Book: Wholesale RV Values, Auction Activity Increase
June results for Black Book’s monthly report show average values for both motorhomes and towables at wholesale auctions rose for the second month in a row.
“The volume of RVs sold at auction also increased across the board, an indication that dealers are still buying more inventory to restock their lots and make sure they have the correct mix of units. We expect auction activity to stay strong while we are in the heart of the prime selling season,” said Eric Lawrence, principal analyst.
Taking a closer look at the markets, the average selling price for motorized units was $59,231, which is up $3,281 (5.9%) from the previous month. Towables came in at $19,606, up $833 (3.2%) from last month. One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $65,365 and the average towable unit brought $21,130.
Auction volume was up: motorhomes increased 7.9% while towables rose 17.4%.
The average age of motorhomes was eight years old (2016) and towables was five (2019).
