A trend toward more “normalization” in pricing continues, according to this recent report.
“The average sales prices for motor homes and towables sold at wholesale auctions decreased last month, as auction volume increased to more typical levels, said Eric Lawrence at Black Book, in his most recent monthly report. “Various RV organizations reported that both manufacturer shipments and retail sales are down on new units, so it is very likely that as they become more available and dealers begin to discount once again, used RV values will follow suit.
“Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for motorized units was $69,003 which is down $10,665 (13.3%) from the previous month. Towables came in at $20,532, down $689 (3.2%) from last month. One year ago the average motorhome sold for $69,953 and the average towable unit brought $24,280.”
Lawrence added that auction volume was up: motorhomes increased 23.3% while towables rose 10.1%. Meawhile, the average age of motorhomes was eleven years old (2011) and towables was six (2016).
