“The values of used RVs sold at wholesale auctions were mixed last month, with motorhomes dipping slightly while towables posted yet another gain, reaching an all-time high,” said Eric Lawrence at Black Book, in his monthly report. “Auction volumes for all segments were up over the preceding month, mirroring the rise in shipments of new RVs. As we head into spring, we are expecting wholesale values to increase as dealers compete for units to stock their lots.”
Lawrence’s report found that the average selling price for motorized units was $59,092, which is down $1,647 (2.7 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $20,371, up $801 (4.1 percent) from last month. One year ago the average motorhome sold for $43,854 and the average towable unit brought $14,462.
Auction volume was up: Motorhomes increased 1.8 percent while towables rose 1.6 percent.
The average age of motorized units was eleven years old (2010), and towables was six (2015).
