Black Folks Camp Too Changes Name to The Unity Folks
Black Folks Camp Too, an award-winning company dedicated to helping the outdoor industry attract emerging audiences through training, marketing and partnerships, announced that it has evolved and will now be known as The Unity Folks.
A New Name With Broader Reach
The Unity Folks will serve as the parent company to Folks Camp Too, a division featuring a multibrand catalog that includes: Asian Folks Camp Too, Black Folks Camp Too, Church Folks Camp Too, Hispanic Folks Camp Too, Latino Folks Camp Too, Mixed Folks Camp Too, Native Folks Camp Too, White Folks Camp Too and All Folks Camp Too.
Carrying Forward a Legacy of Unity
“We have always advanced unity in the outdoor community and beyond, and now it’s in our name,” said Earl B. Hunter Jr., founder and president of The Unity Folks, announcing the name evolution in West Virginia at the 2025 National Association of State Park Directors Conference. “We are evolving to continue and expand upon the work we’ve been doing for almost a decade.”
Addressing the Urgency of Change
This shift reflects the urgent need for the outdoor industry to engage new demographics and future generations to ensure long-term sustainability. Hunter emphasized that attracting new consumers while serving current enthusiasts is a mid- to long-term strategy, saying, “Our industry can no longer operate in a vacuum and hope that things just get better by using the same tactics of the past. We must fight for growth with strategies that are sincere, meaningful, measurable and sustainable. If the outdoor industry does not begin inviting and welcoming more folks to the workforce and lifestyle, it risks not only missed business opportunities, but its relevance to future generations.”

Equipping Leaders for Growth & Inclusion
The Unity Folks equips industry leaders and government agencies with the knowledge, tools and strategies needed to create customer service experiences that fuel business growth while safeguarding the future of the outdoors.
A Data-Driven Mission Since 2019
Since its founding in 2019, The Unity Folks (formerly Black Folks Camp Too) has led with a bold, data-driven mission: “Increasing Unity in the Outdoor Community and Beyond.” The company has partnered with state park systems, outdoor brands, campgrounds, RV companies and nonprofits to design welcoming outdoor experiences. The new name honors this legacy while broadening the platform to engage partners and communities ready to embrace meaningful change.
Expanding Flagship Initiatives
This evolution marks a milestone as the global company, an award-winner every year since inception, expands the reach of its flagship initiatives:
- The Unity Blaze Academy, which has trained thousands of outdoor professionals and remains the hub for online learning and training.
- The Unity Blaze Certification Program, awards and recognizes partners committed to ensuring that all visitors feel invited and welcomed.
- The Unity Blaze Map, showcasing companies, brands, organizations and destinations across North America that welcome everyone to the outdoor lifestyle.
- The Unity Blaze logo, with its campfire symbolizing the oldest form of light, heat, cooking and gathering. The logo communicates: “You Are Invited and Welcomed” — a shared commitment with partners and consumers to change the world one campfire at a time.
