Bontrager Industries Division Achieves Key Ambulance Certifications

High Ground Conversions, a division of Bontrager Industries, announced that its ambulances have officially achieved certification compliance with the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) Ground Vehicle Standard, the legacy federal “Triple K” (KKK-A-1822) specifications, and Star of Life requirements. These prestigious certifications confirm that High Ground Conversions’ Type II ambulances meet or exceed the highest industry standards for design, safety, performance, and equipment, enabling the company to sell its vehicles in any state across the United States, Bontrager Industries said in a release.

These certifications represent a significant milestone for High Ground Conversions, underscoring the company’s commitment to delivering durable, high-performance ambulances built with real-world EMS demands in mind. By aligning with CAAS — recognized as the gold standard for ground ambulance construction — along with the longstanding Triple K federal specifications and Star of Life certification criteria, High Ground Conversions said it ensures its vehicles satisfy the diverse regulatory requirements adopted by states nationwide.

“This achievement reflects our dedication to innovation, the use of superior materials, design and craftsmanship, and the needs of emergency medical professionals,” said Jason “JB” Bontrager, CEO of Bontrager Industries. “Our ambulances are engineered to provide superior reliability, safety and comfort, allowing EMS teams to focus on saving lives. With these certifications, we are proud to offer our Ready to Respond (RTR) vehicles to departments and services in every corner of the country.”

Bontrager added, “And we’re not done. We will be releasing a high-roof version of our Type II RTR in Q2 of 2026 and in late 2026, a Type III ambulance into the market. We are committed to being a service-oriented company and because of that, we have launched refurbishment services for our Type II ambulances and plan to offer in-house remount services, for our Type III’s, once those services are required.

High Ground Conversions specializes in Type II ambulances and remounts that feature advanced cooling systems, robust construction, and EMS-focused designs. The company’s partnership with leading dealers, such as AutoFarm Ambulance, Kemper Emergency Vehicles and several others, further supports nationwide distribution and service.
