A Vermont businessman is buying the former Finius Flubberbuster’s bar/restaurant property on Route 4 in Hampton and plans to expand his RV sales operation to the site.

James Borne, owner of Brandon RV of Brandon, Vermont, plans to open an RV sales lot and office on the property, hopefully by late May. A banner put on the sign in front of the building boasts of the business plans.
The bar, known to many locally as “Flub’s,” was open for more than 20 years before it closed in 2015.
Just over the state line, it was popular with residents and college students from Vermont, where bars closed earlier than in New York. It was also known in its heyday as a venue for live music but had become a bane of local police because of drug activity and violent incidents, including a stabbing that left a woman seriously injured in 2014.
Borne said he is expanding his dealership to locations in Florida and Canada as well and hopes to start renovations soon on the Hampton property to have the sales operation going for the summer. He said the building will need more renovations than he anticipated, but he was hopeful the work could be done by late May.
