Their reporting is based on a Tweet put out Wednesday night by the company’s Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis.

Camping World has been the title sponsor for NASCAR’s Truck Series for more than a decade.

Speed Sport magazine quoted Lemonis from his appearance on the NASCAR Radio channel on SiriusXM: “It’s a tough call to make,” the magazine quotes Lemonis said. “What really drove it for me was – it’s going to sound odd to people – but I was watching the marketplace change and I was watching inflation take off and I was watching the cost of housing and car payments and everything for our 14,000 people just get more expensive every day. … My people matter to me more than a sticker on a car or a name on a television. It’s just at the end of the day, I’m watching people struggle.”

He referred to the decision to not renew the $5 million annual contract as a “tough call” but said his goal is to put more money into the paychecks of Camping World’s employees.
