Canadian Wholesale RV Shipments Fall 30 Percent
The Canadian RV Association has reported that RV wholesale shipments into Canada for the first quarter, ending March 31, totaled 12,463 units compared to 17,831 in 2018, representing a decrease of 30.10% versus the same period in 2018.
The RVDA of Canada previously reported that dealer retail activity during the quarter totaled 4,282 units and when compared to the wholesale shipment figure of 12,463 indicates that Canadian Dealers Inventory levels significantly increased approaching the retail season.
CRVA attributes the lower shipments in 2019 versus 2018 to the following factors: extreme cold winter conditions that affected RV retail shows and attendance across the country, increased consumer lending rates in the fall of 2018, and uncertainty of further movement in 2019, continued down economy in Alberta due to oil pipeline conflict and uncertainty regarding USMCA negotiations and tariffs.
