Canadian Wholesale RV Shipments Take Big Jump

CRVA

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association reported that RV wholesale shipments into Canada, for the second quarter ending June 30, totaled 16,250 units compared to 4,471 in 2020 – representing an increase of 263.45 percent over the same period last year.

Total RV wholesale shipments into Canada YTD for the period ending June 30 were 30,102 units versus 13,105 for the period in 2020, representing an increase of 129.70 percent.

It should be noted that shipments for the first and second quarter during 2020 were significantly lower due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, comparing the figures to the last six years, 2021 is the second highest over the period.

According to Statistical Surveys, RVDA of Canada recently reported retail activity for the first six months in 2021, totaling 30,376 units. When compared to the wholesale shipment figure of 30,102, that would indicate that Canadian dealers’ inventory levels have not expanded as the association anticipated.

The Canadian RV Association is hoping that with increased production and seasonally adjusted retail activity in the third and fourth quarter, Canada will see RV retailers able to replenish their inventory levels. The association said it expects demand from Canadian RV enthusiasts will remain strong throughout the rest of 2021.
