Care Camps Adds New Executive Director, Staff Changes
Care Camps has hired Gwynn B. Sullivan as its new executive director.
Sullivan brings to the position more than three decades of service and leadership nationally and internationally in the healthcare industry, the nonprofit said.
“Bringing inspiration and innovative solutions to large-scale initiatives,” said her new organization, “Sullivan has led the development and implementation of award-winning programs to transform healthcare delivery for people living with serious illness. In her most recent position as program director for the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care, she spearheaded the coalition’s work to expand national clinical practice guidelines that included integrating quality pediatric care.”
As a nurse, Sullivan said she has a deep connection to caring for vulnerable children.
“My first job out of college I worked on a pediatric unit at the University of Virginia Medical Center where we took care of the sickest of children and their families,” Sullivan said. “That experience is forever embedded within me.”
As Care Camps’ new executive director, Sullivan will facilitate strategic planning, create viable infrastructures, develop key communications and evaluate strategies that leverage sustainability within the charity. Most importantly, Sullivan has the expertise to sustain and build relationships among Care Camps stakeholders.
“Gwynn comes to us with many years of successful leadership positions with nonprofits and has the vision to lead our organization to new heights,” said Wade Elliot, chairman of Care Camps Board of Directors. “The Board of Directors, Care Camps staff and I are thrilled to welcome Gwynn to Care Camps.”
Along with Sullivan’s appointment, Care Camps also made the following staff changes; Erica Lanter will serve as communications director; Lexi Bickford is program coordinator, and Jennifer Mercer will continue in her role as development director.
Care Camps is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to support specialized outdoors-themed oncology camps across the United States and Canada.
