Care Camps will launch a new Ambassador Program in 2023 to meet the growing needs of children experiencing cancer.

Care Camps is a nonprofit that funds more than 132 specialized oncology camps around the United States and Canada, providing a respite for the children going through treatment and their families.

“As our organization continues to grow, we see an opportunity to establish a group of individuals who are passionate about our cause and who can actively represent and promote Care Camps on a personal level,” said Mark Lemoine, vice-chair of the Care Camps Board of Directors and owner of the Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday in Benton Harbor, Michigan. “As we develop our Ambassador program, we will broaden our reach geographically while creating more personal connections. Modeled after similar programs within local chambers of commerce, this is an opportunity to strategically expand our efforts without expanding our administrative costs.”

The creation of the Ambassador program will enable face-to-face opportunities to promote, engage, teach and thank Care Camp supporters.

“We envision the Ambassadors as an extension of our staff. Providing fundraising support, personally thanking donors and being an advocate for Care Camps are key components of the program,” said Lemoine.

Every year, the number of children in the United States and Canada who are diagnosed with cancer grows. The childhood cancer survivor rate is also growing, thanks to medical advances. These factors combined mean more children and families are navigating the long-term health complications that result from childhood cancer. Specialized oncology camps are an essential part of the healing process.
