CDK Global, which provides auto dealerships with software for managing sales and services, has shut down many of its systems after being hacked, according to a report from CBSNews.com.
The shutdown has affected approximately 15,000 car dealerships across the United States, the report says. General Motors dealerships, as well as Group 1 Automotive, were among those affected.
A CDK spokesperson told CBS News on June 19 that they are investigating the incident and have shut down systems out of caution. By the afternoon of June 19, the company’s dealer management system and Digital Retailing solutions were restored, a spokesperson told CBS MoneyWatch. However, by the afternoon of June 20, systems were down again after another cyberattack the day prior.
