Recognizing that automotive and RV dealerships need a resource to help navigate environmental and safety issues, a non-profit organization called the Clean Auto Alliance has formed to promote best practices that go beyond compliance with the regulations mandated.
The Clean Auto Alliance, a non-profit organization, aims to educate, motivate and promote businesses in the automotive industry that are dedicated to environmental, safety and transportation best practices defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT).
As part of this charter, the Clean Auto Alliance is establishing a committee to define standards by which businesses will be recognized for their commitment to these practices.
“We are seeking committee members from automotive-related businesses, manufacturers, government agencies and dealerships to assist in the development of these important standards for the automotive industry,” said Eric Schmitz of the Clean Auto Alliance. “Maintaining a safe and environmentally sound workplace isn’t just good for employees and the environment – it’s good for business, too.
“OSHA, EPA and DOT set general industry regulatory requirements; whereas, the Clean Auto Alliance aims to set specific best practice benchmarks for the automotive service industry that will assist with compliance, but more importantly reduce workplace accidents and environmental impacts.”
To further promote awareness, the Clean Auto Alliance will bestow the Environment and Safety Elite Award to distinguish businesses that meet or exceed best practice benchmarks in key environmental and safety categories.
