Campers kicked off the 2018 summer camping season at KOAs last weekend in huge numbers for the annual KOA Care Camps Big Weekend event.
The annual event raises funds to support more than 125 specialized North American summer camps for children with cancer, and their siblings.
Camping check-ins for the May 11 and 12 Big Weekend event were up nearly 5 percent over the results from the Big Weekend last year. More than 400 KOA campgrounds in North America participated.
Campers who stayed as paying guests on Friday, May 11, received a night of camping on Saturday, May 12, for just $20. The entire $20 fee is provided directly to the KOA Care Camps charity.
