Community: nuCamp RV Hosts Mobile Pack Event for Starving Children

Recently, more than 400 volunteers gathered at nüCamp RV’s headquarters to prepare and package meals for Feed My Starving Children, an organization providing meals to starving and malnourished children around the world.

In just two days, a team of volunteers hand packed 108,864 meals. The volunteer team, made up of nüCamp RV employees, friends, family and community members, worked four shifts to pack the meals. Their efforts will feed 298 children for a year.

“Food is one of our most basic human needs, yet each year thousands of children are hungry and dying from starvation and related disease,” said Scott Hubble, CEO of nüCamp RV. “We are working with Feed My Starving Children to help get food to people who are hungry and improve their lives.”

While several members of nüCamp have participated in Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack events in the past, this was the first time that a company had hosted one in Northeast Ohio. Hosts of Mobile Pack events provide volunteers, commit to funding and packing at least 100,000 meals and have a large facility to pack the meals. In exchange, Feed My Starving Children sends a crew and truck full of supplies.

The nüCamp RV employee lunchroom was temporarily transformed into an FDA-approved food packing facility, where volunteers hand packed each meal. According to the Feed My Starving Children web site, the organization “does not use machines to package our meals because we realize the personal, impactful experience created by packing the meals by hand. It transforms an experience from just ‘something good to do’ into something deeply personal.”

“Participating in a Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack event is a powerful and fun way to serve others,” said Hubble. “I hope our work with Feed My Starving Children inspires others to do more and help others in need.”

nüCamp RV leaders and employees practice a servant leadership philosophy. Servant leadership is a leadership philosophy that believes the most effective leaders strive to serve others. The company’s employees focus on guiding principles that will benefit both the people and the products of nüCamp RV. The current focus is on S.E.R.V.I.C.E (selflessness, enthusiasm, respect, vision, integrity, creativity, excellence).
