Community: RV Site Offers Respite to Cancer Patients
Encore and Thousand Trails RV Resorts and Campgrounds hosted its seventh respite stay this fall in conjunction with For Pete’s Sake (FPS), completing a successful first year of the partnership between the organizations.
The alliance began when FPS was seeking a travel partner in the spring of 2016 and, since then, cancer patients have been enjoying the vacation RV resorts with their families as part of the respite package FPS offers them. The Encore and Thousand Trails locations that hosted respite stays in 2017 included Circle M, Fiesta Key, and Chesapeake Bay.
Since 1999, FPS has enabled cancer patients and their loved ones the opportunity to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationships by creating unforgettable respite vacations. Upon the patients’ return home, FPS continues to provide ancillary support to patients and their families as their battles with cancer persist. Patients are nominated for the respite by a member of his/her oncology team, and more than 7,000 patients have been helped by FPS to date.
“When you look at the work For Pete’s Sake does and the services they provide to patients, teaming up with them was an easy decision for us,” said Pat Zamora, VP of marketing for Encore and Thousand Trails. “Offering fun, relaxing places for people to enjoy themselves and spend quality time with their families is what we do. And it’s especially rewarding to help families from FPS.”
Encore and Thousand Trails provides outdoor recreation enthusiasts opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in top vacation destinations around the country. Guests can choose from a range of accommodations, including RV sites.
