Construction began at 8:30 a.m. at the Thor Industries headquarters. Approximately 40 employees of Thor Industries spent two, two-hour shifts to complete the construction of the interior and exterior walls for the Steffen families new home.
Habitat for Humanity is an organization that helps people move into a home of their own. For Thor Industries, it’s a donation of time, according to Bob Martin, president and CEO.
Amy Zakiewicz, who is the director of development of Habitat for Humanity in Elkhart County, was present at Thor Industries to oversee the progress of the panels. According to Zakiewicz, this is the first time Thor Industries is helping build panels for a house.
The family who is selected must put in 200 equity hours. The families must take homeowner and financial classes, according to Zakiewicz.
