Compete for Kids Canada Raises Over $34K for Children With Cancer

Canadian RV dealerships raised over $34,000 CAD for Care Camps Foundation through the first Compete for Kids Canada campaign, held during September’s National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

compete for kids canada 390With only days or weeks to prepare, 16 dealerships stepped forward to help make camp possible for children with cancer. Their willingness to take part with little planning time helped turn a new initiative into meaningful support for children and families.

Forest River was a key partner in bringing the campaign to life. The company provided marketing assets to its dealerships throughout Canada and shared campaign communications before and throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Care Camps Foundation said. That outreach helped dealers learn about the initiative and gave them tools to get involved on a short timeline.

“We are so grateful to Forest River for helping us launch Compete for Kids Canada and to the dealerships that bravely said yes with only days or weeks to prepare,” said Alison Stovold, Canadian manager for Care Camps Foundation. “Their willingness to jump in made this first campaign possible. Together, they are helping children with cancer experience joy, belonging and the healing power of the outdoors.”

“Our Canadian dealers showed what can happen when people come together for a shared purpose,” said Doug Gaeddert, president and CEO of Forest River. “We were pleased to help get the word out to our dealer partners and provide tools to help activate it. Our thanks go out to every dealership that stepped forward to support Care Camps Foundation and help make camp possible for children with cancer.”

The top fundraising dealerships will be recognized during the RVDA Convention/Expo in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. at Clique Bar & Lounge. The celebration will honor their efforts and the support they helped raise to support the camps in Canada.

The campaign’s top three fundraising dealerships were:

  1. Rangeland RV and Trailer Sales, Rocky View County, AB, $19,391.30
  2. Western RV Country, Airdrie, AB, $11,948.50
  3. Alexandria Camping Centre, Alexandria, ON, $1,100.00
